Donnetta Boykin
Founder & President
I am the proud owner of a small farm located on .5 acres in Trotwood, Ohio called Endigo's Herbals & Organics, LLC. My goal is to provide nutrient rich, chemical-free, non-gmo produce and herbs to communities facing food insecurity. 10% of the harvest is donated to our local food banks. My motto is, "Live like you want to be healthy!" That takes time and consideration for the most important person in your life...yourself. If we do not invest in our own health, we will not be able to do all the amazing things we do for our families and community. Taking care of the world starts with taking care of yourself.
I started growing vegetables 20 years ago after being inspired by my grandmother, my aunt and mother-in-law, all of which were avid gardeners. After a rise in concern regarding the food my children were receiving at school vs what children attending private schools received, I decided to transition to commercial farming with the hopes of starting a farm to school program for our local public school. I struggled for years to complete the transition and was blessed to hear about an incubator farming program Central State University starting. I quickly went from being a participant to co-farm manager for the incubator program. |
I have been blessed to extend my involvement in agriculture to other organizations as well. I was co-farm manager for the Homefull Community Farm, co-lead of the Vibrant Farms branch of the Food Equity Coalition, a member of Ohio Ecological Food & Farm Assoc. (OEFFA) and the Black Farmers Network (BFN). |
