A native of Mount Vernon, New York and an alumnus of the University of Dayton, I am a byproduct of grandparents who farmed their land in North Carolina. My visits to the South during my childhood and teenage years with my parents reflects the stories and history of my farming roots and rich heritage. I am grateful to have raised two daughters and have been blessed with five grandsons along with a significant number of godchildren and godgrands. Upon retirement from a career in Public and Non-profit services, I enrolled in the Farming Incubator program in 2019, offered by Central State University. I received not only the education I needed to farm but the opportunity to personally participate and engage in practicing sustainable farming practices. While there attending class and performing my farming duties, I connected with a group of beginner farmers like myself, who held a similar passion to impact the greater community. We all share the desire to support the community through service to others by providing education and support in ‘healthy living’ from seed to table. To be blessed with such a group of farmers and friends that have become family is a special gift that inspires me to serve in excellence and with humility. |
My mission is to make a global impact starting in my community through the growth, sale and donation of vegetables; leaving a legacy of love and tender caretaking of our earthly environmental resources, reflecting God’s caring and profound love for us. I am committed to supporting the next generation of farmers. Our roots from the beginning of time are embedded in my faith in God’s word establishing “the land to produce vegetation, and seed-bearing plants and trees according to their kinds”. (Gen. 1:11,12, 29, Gen. 2:5,6). |
